Wadi Rum Horse Adventures offers exclusive horseback riding experiences in the heart of the Wadi Rum desert, the valley of the Moon. Small groups, expert care and an authentic Bedouin partnership at the core of everything we do.

Astrid Lebon
Born in Brussels, Astrid has been immersed in the world of horses since childhood. She holds a master’s degree in Physiotherapy, a diploma in horse osteopathy and a Certificat du Bien-Être du Cheval from La Cense, France’s leading centre for natural horsemanship.
Her travels brought her to Wadi Rum, where she fell in love with the desert and eventually made it a second home. Wadi Rum Horse Adventures was born from that love, combining her clinical expertise with a passion for sharing this extraordinary landscape on horseback.
Astrid manages the entire herd: their training, their physical condition and their wellbeing. She also personally matches every rider to the right horse before each trip, ensuring the experience is safe, comfortable and enjoyable for both.
Astrid speaks English, French and Dutch and welcomes riders from across Europe.

Ali Mohammad
Ali is a native of wadi Rum and has been guiding adventures through this desert since 2011. He knows its hidden paths, its changing light and its stories the way most people know their own street.
On every ride, Ali handles the logistics on the ground, communicates with the local community and makes sure guests feel welcomed and at ease from start to finish. A glass of sweet Bedouin tea and bread baked in the ashes of the fire, Ali’s way of making guests feel at home in the desert.
A proud family man, Ali is married and father to four children, all of whom have inherited his love of the desert.
When he’s not guiding on horseback, Ali can often be found with the camels, a lifelong passion that reflects his deep roots in Bedouin desert life.

Awel Wahid/اول واحد
Awel Wahid means first one. She was the first horse we bought for the tours and she needs to be in the front or she gets very nervous. She is a little warrior, what else can you expect from a chestnut mare but shows a softer side when brushed and taken care of.

Najam/نجم
His name means Star in Arabic. Najam was bought as a quiet stallion. We gelded him so he could be in the same paddock with the other horses. He is a very steady and quiet horse and always looks happy with his little ears pointed forward.

Kabir/كبير
Kabir got his name because he is the oldest of the group. He is about 10 years old. He always looks good on the photos, head high, ears pointed forward. We bought him so Ali could learn to ride on a very steady horse. Put a good rider on him and he wakes up and is full of energy.

Knafeh/كنافه
Knafeh was a crush, cute looking chestnut mare and very sweet like her name. She can be quiet and she can be forward but very easy to ride.

Amir Alsahra/أمير الصحراء
His name means Prince of the desert. This little colt was born the third of November 2020 out of Knafeh, Amir has grown into a comfortable and reliable horse to ride. He is social, curious and just a little cheeky, he has his mother’s love for people but his own distinct personality. Now almost six, he recently joined the rides through the desert he was born into. He’s already making his presence felt.

Sahm/سهم
His name means Arrow. Sahm came to us as a gift, a young stallion in poor condition who needed time, feed and care before anything else. He became Amir’s playmate and slowly found his footing again from a thin, dull-coated horse into a healthy, curious horse was one of those quiet rewards that makes this work worthwhile.
Sadly, his previous owner reclaimed him once he was back in shape. Hopefully he found good hands he deserved.

Al Rahib/أل رهيب
His name means The Terrible. When he arrived in 2021 as a three year old stallion, it wasn’t entirely undeserved. On foot he could be a handful, though he has come a long way since then. In the saddle it’s a different story, Al Rahib is one of the most loved horses among our riders and a firm favourite of Ali’s too. At 1m62 he is still our biggest horse and when he is not carrying a guest through the desert he is often out front leading the group. He earned his place and won our hearts!
Sadly, his previous owner reclaimed him once he was back in shape. Hopefully he found good hands he deserved.
